Akuatro is an ingenious system of four configurable electric hydrogenerators (series, parallel and mixed) with a vertical axis and pivoting blades, self-orienting and floating that takes advantage of the energy of marine and river currents.
Akuatro has been granted the European Patent as well as a favorable International Preliminary Report on Patentability in all the claims and National Patents are being requested. The project is seeking both public (European Union, international, and national) and private funding to begin the computer simulation, prototype construction, and testing phases.

Ocean and river current energy are forms of renewable energy that harness the natural movement of water to generate electricity.
Akuatro produces renewable electricity near coastal areas, so two of the possible applications have been analyzed: Supply to homes and Desalination plants.
